The Automotive News Canada Champions of Diversity program is recognizing executives in the Canadian auto industry who've demonstrated their commitment to improving diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and their communities. Do you know someone who drives substantial change and embodies what inclusivity stands for? Tell us about them! 

Open to Canada-based talent working for an automaker, supplier, mobility company, retailer, service provider, or any other sector in the auto industry, this program will honor dynamic executives who have the determination and drive to move the industry and their communities forward.

CRITERIA

 

Eligibility

Applications are open to executives currently working in any sector of the Canadian automotive industry (OEM, supplier, dealer, etc.). The ideal candidate has made significant efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the auto industry and their communities during the past 2-3 years, and has shown tangible accomplishments in their current role and have the power to effect change. 
 

Requirements

In the application, you will be asked to:

  • Outline the candidate's current role at their organization
  • Describe how the candidate champions and implements strategies and initiatives for diversity, equity, and inclusion within their organization
  • Detail 2-3 top achievements or contributions the candidate has made to the industry. Examples provided must be from the last 3 years. 
  • Provide references from two senior executives with whom the nominee has worked closely with during their automotive industry career
  • Submit a high resolution portrait that may be used in print and online if the nominee is selected as an honoree.

 

Please note: Past Automotive News Canada Champions of Diversity, regardless of title or company, are not eligible for the 2025 program. 

All information included should be publishable by the time the winners are announced in December 2025. Any confidential information should be noted as “not for public” or “off the record.”

Only ONE nomination form is needed for each candidate. Repeat or duplicate nominations for the same candidate will be removed.

FAQs

Executives that are based in Canada and currently work in any sector of the automotive industry are eligible to apply or be nominated for this program.

No, there is no age limit for a candidate to apply to be a 2025 Champion of Diversity.

Submitted applications will be reviewed and judged by a group of Automotive News Canada editors and reporters, along with executives from Accelerate Auto, the sponsor of the program.

Unfortunately, once you have submitted your application, you will not be able to log in to edit the form. If there is factual information that is incorrect or that has been updated, please contact the awards team to request a change.

Please note that changes to the application cannot be made once the final deadline has passed and judging has started.

Winners will be notified in September 2025 and published on AutoNews.com/Canada and a print issue of Automotive News Canada in December 2025.
